Joe Plenys - Film Editor

I am a feature film editor with over 18 years of experience.  My primary focus on any film I work on is creating the strongest, most entertaining, most engrossing story possible.  To achieve this, I do my best to bring the director's vision to the screen, focusing on the minutia and broad strokes simultaneously.  I know post inside and out, with a strong knowledge of Avid, Premiere CC and FCP legacy workflows for most modern cameras (35mm, Red, Alexa, Sony F65, Blackmagic etc). •I have my own 4K capable edit bay but am also happy to come to yours. I know what is necessary for bringing a project through to a conform for color correction and sound mixing. • I'm a team player and work well with others. • I am versatile with many different styles and genres as you can see from my credits, having worked with some of the best names in their respective genres: Dolph Lundgren and Jean Claude Van Damme for action; Matthew Lillard, Anne Heche, Gina Gershon, and Cuba Gooding Jr in a Romantic Dramedy; John Goodman, Jaime Kennedy and the Jerky Boys in a sophomoric romp. Billy Bob Thornton, Johnny Depp and Theo James in noir murder mystery. I got my start in the thriller/horror genre and know what it takes to make a moment truly become alive and engage the audience. I'm excited about film-making in general and always give 110% to any project I work on.

I've handled CGI heavy workflows and can often find outside of the box solutions to work around production issues in order to best achieve the director's vision for the story.• Beyond all of that, I love independent cinema. Get in touch and I will send you some samples of my work. As a general aside, I have plenty of experience with short form commercial, music video and non-scripted documentary type of work as well.
